PRIMES has over 25 years of experience in the development of diagnostics solutions for the complete range of laser technology.
We develop and produce systems for the characterization of industrially employed laser beams as used in the automotive industry, industrial machinery, additive manufacturing as well as R & D and laser manufacturing.
Our focus lies on measuring devices for the characterization of a wide range of industrial lasers for material processing and scientific applications. The combination of several MW pulse power with a few micron spot diameter and the time range from femtoseconds up to cw operation has led to a new generation of PRIMES instruments from UV to NIR wavelengths.
The field bus interface of several PRIMES systems offers the possibility for an easy integration into a laser machine.
The Cube is the latest PRIMES product, intended for the ballistic measurement of NIR laser power from 25 W to 8 kW. The device particularly distinguishes itself by its compact design (60 x 65 x 65 mm), which enables the use in confined spaces.
It is equipped with an integrated Bluetooth interface for wireless communication. A special app enables wireless control by means of a tablet or a smartphone as well as the graphical display and the storage of measured values.
The focus is the real tool in laser material processing. Position and dimension of the focus impact the processing result. For many years the PRIMES FM has been the reliable tool for characterization of high power lasers. The system is able to characterize solid-state lasers as well as CO2 lasers.

The PMM is a robust laser power measurement system that determines optical power directly in the production zone. Thanks to the fieldbus interface, the PMM can be easily integrated into equipment controllers – various systems are available. Fully automated measurements can be carried out and documented due to the direct coupling to the machinery controller. This creates the basis for beam monitoring during processing – an essential component of quality assurance in manufacturing with lasers.
